Fall in Love With the Power in Your Mouth
Do you feel like life keeps happening to you instead of for you?
Are you watching the Holy Spirit hover over your situation but seeing nothing change? There’s a reason for that. God gave you a spiritual law that turns the darkness into light, the void into creation, and the dead places in your life into abundance.
But there’s one catch — you have to fall in love with it enough to actually use it.
Death and life are in the power of your tongue.
Let me show you the verse that changes everything.
Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.
Proverbs 18:21 NKJV
Did you catch the condition? Those who love it will eat its fruit.
Most people don’t just not love the power of the tongue — they hate it. They call it “blab it and grab it.” They argue, push back, and explain why it can’t be that simple.
Well, darlin’, if you don’t love it, you’re not going to eat the fruit of it either. But for those of us who actually believe what God said — we have to fall in love with this power. Because if you love it, you’ll use it.
If you love something, you use it.
Think about it. When I was a kid, I played a game called Karate Champ. I found one move — a back flip into a spinning heel kick — and I loved it. I used it every single round. If you watched me play for five minutes, you didn’t have to guess what my favorite move was.
Today, when I play a video game with a Barrett .50 cal rifle, that’s what I’m reaching for every time. Why? Because I love it. And I eat the fruit of it. I knock choppers out of the sky with that thing.
You’ve got things like that in your own life. A chair you sit in every day. A pair of shoes you wear out because you love them. Eggs you eat every morning.
If you love it, you’ll use it every day. So let me ask you — do you love the power of your tongue like that?
God created everything with His words. He’s your example.
Go back with me to the very beginning.
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
Genesis 1:1–2 NKJV
Notice something. The Holy Spirit was already there, hovering over the darkness. But nothing was changing. The deep was still dark. The earth was still void.
Why? Because nobody had spoken yet.
Then God said, “Let there be light.” And there was light.
Could that be true of your life right now? Could you have the power of God right there on the inside of you, the Holy Spirit right there with you, and still be sitting in darkness because you refuse to open your mouth?
Your tongue will rudder you toward death or toward life.
When God looked at the darkness, He didn’t sit there and say, “My goodness, look how dark it is out here.” He didn’t describe the problem. He said what He wanted.
He ruddered toward creation. He ruddered toward life.
But when your car breaks down, your bank account is empty, or you get a bad report from the doctor — what do you do? You describe the problem. You talk about the darkness. And then you wonder why nothing is changing.
Listen, you’re not going to rudder out of a storm by talking about the storm. Death and life are in the power of your tongue. It’s going to be one or the other. Quit blaming God for what’s going on around you and put your tongue to work.
The same Word that created you can repair you.
Here’s something that will change your life if you grab a hold of it.
All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.
John 1:3 NKJV
Everything was made by the Word. Which means you were made by the Word. And when I start speaking God’s Word out of my mouth, the reason it affects my body is because I’m taking the very thing that created me.
If the Word made you, the Word can repair you. If the Word built the bench, the man with the same materials can fix the bench — or build you a brand new one.
That’s why people told me when I first got saved, “If you don’t feel good, speak the healing Scriptures. Say ‘by His stripes I was healed.’” At the time I thought, “What in the world is that going to do?” Now I know. You’re releasing the same creative power that formed you in the first place.
Dominion only operates through your mouth.
When God created Adam, He gave him dominion over everything — the fish, the birds, the cattle, the whole earth.
But how was Adam supposed to actually exercise that dominion? How was he going to get an elephant out of his collard greens? How was he going to get the birds to multiply? He wasn’t going to chase them around the garden.
He was going to do what his Father did. He was going to speak.
And God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it...”
Genesis 1:28 NKJV
How did the Father have dominion over creation? With words. How does He expect you — made in His image, in His likeness — to have dominion over your life? With words.
You’ve got dominion. But dominion without a mouth is dominion that never gets used.
Fall in love with it. Use it every day.
Quit being lazy about your tongue. Quit arguing about whether it really works. Quit describing the darkness.
Fall in love with the authority God put in your mouth and use it every single day. Speak life over your body. Speak life over your finances. Speak life over your family. Rudder your ship toward the destiny God has for you.
Open your mouth. Say, “Let there be light.” Fight To Win.
