Flypaper Faith - How to Actually Cast Your Care on God

I'm excited to keep going in this series, because today I want to give you something practical — how to actually cast a care on God when it keeps sticking to your hands like flypaper.

Humility Isn't Weakness - It's What Actually Gets You Used

Moses was described as the most humble man on the face of the earth. He was also the most used man of his entire generation. That's not a coincidence — there's a direct connection between the two.

Humility clears the way for grace to operate fully in your life. Pride blocks it. And this isn't a "God resists the proud, except his favorite kids" situation — it applies across the board.

He Humbles You So He Can Exalt You, Not So He Can Sideline You

“Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.”

1 Peter 5:6-8 (NKJV)

Notice the purpose behind humbling yourself — so that He may exalt you in due time. Humility was never meant to leave you as a doormat. And casting your care on Him isn't passive resignation — it's the actual mechanism by which humility gets expressed.

Casting Your Care Can Feel Like Fighting Flypaper

Somebody once described this to me perfectly — casting your care on the Lord can feel a lot like handling flypaper. You try to hand the care over, and it sticks to your hand. You reach with your other hand to peel it off, and now that hand's stuck too. You keep lifting it up, and it keeps landing right back on you.

That's genuinely what it can feel like. It doesn't mean you're doing something wrong. It means you keep at it anyway.

Be Sober, Be Vigilant - Worry Gives the Enemy an Opening

Scripture pairs casting your care with being sober and vigilant for a reason — apparently worry is something that can sneak back in easily if you're not watching for it. If you refuse to carry the care, the grace of God sustains you. If you pick worry back up, it seems to open a door.

Practice actual situational awareness with your own thoughts. "That felt a little like worry — I need to deal with that right now," instead of letting it sit there quietly working against you.

Keep Throwing the Boomerang Until It Stays Gone

I've faced real financial pressure with this ministry — bills that kept me up at night wondering how they'd get paid. What I do, honestly, is say it out loud: "Lord, I refuse to carry this care. It's not mine. I thank You that You supply all my need according to Your riches in glory by Christ Jesus."

And then it comes right back, like a boomerang. So I throw it again. And again. Sometimes for hours. I don't stop because it didn't work the first time — I keep casting it until it actually stays gone, and peace shows up.

That's the work of it. Not earning God's love — you already have that. It's simply refusing to carry what He already told you to hand over, as many times as it takes.
