Open Your Mouth — Because God’s Word Creates What It Says
I’m excited to give you something today that will either completely liberate your walk of faith — or frustrate you until you settle it. There’s no middle ground on this one.
Here it is: God cooperates with His own way of doing things. And His way is to speak first, then watch it come to pass. He expects you to do the same.
You have to be sure — not hopeful, not maybe, sure.
Before we go further, let me revisit something we cannot afford to skip. Romans 4:16 says God set up this whole system of faith so that the promise would be sure to all the seed. Not possible. Not likely. Sure.
Too many people approach God like they’d hire an unreliable plumber. “Well, maybe He’ll show up. You never know what God’s going to do.” That’s not faith — that’s ambiguity. And ambiguity won’t get you through 2:00 in the morning when everything is screaming at you.
God watches over His Word to perform it. He is unchangeable. There is no shadow of turning in Him. Of all the people in your life, He should be the one you are most certain about. Get to the place where you know what He’s going to do — because He told you.
Your mouth is part of the process — Zacharias learned this the hard way.
John the Baptist’s father had been praying for a child for years. Then an angel shows up in the Holy of Holies and says,
“God has heard your prayer. You’re going to have a son.”
And Zacharias said, “I don’t believe it.”
The angel’s response? You won’t speak until the boy arrives.
People wonder why he was silenced. Here’s why: words have the power to work against what God is trying to do. If Zacharias kept walking around saying “We’re too old, it’s not going to happen, the angel must have been wrong” — those words could work against the very promise God had just given him.
God understands the power of words. He built everything with them. He wasn’t going to let Zacharias’ doubt-filled speech undermine what Heaven had already declared.
That’s why Abraham had to start calling himself the father of many nations before Isaac was born. That’s why God changed his name before the promise was fulfilled — not after. You begin to speak it, and then it comes to pass. That’s how God does things.
Once God speaks, all of creation lines up with what He said.
Here’s something I want you to really sit with. The Bible says it is impossible for God to lie — and there’s a deep reason for that. It’s not just a moral statement. It’s a statement about the nature of His Words.
If God were to walk in the room right now and say, “Isn’t it a beautiful Tuesday evening?” — I couldn’t correct Him. Because the moment He spoke it, I’d look outside and it would be dark. My phone would say Tuesday. Every created thing would instantly align with what He said.
“Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.”
— Mark 11:24 (NKJV)
That’s not believe you receive them when they show up. Believe you receive them — and then you will have them. The believing comes before the having. The speaking comes before the manifesting. This is how God built the universe, and it’s how He expects you to cooperate with Him.
Lazarus wasn’t dead — he was sleeping.
When Jesus heard that Lazarus had died, He told His disciples, “Our friend Lazarus sleeps, but I go that I may wake him up.” They took Him literally. He was speaking prophetically — setting His Words in agreement with what was about to happen.
He did the same with Jairus’ daughter. “She is not dead but sleeping.” People laughed at Him. But He wasn’t denying the physical reality. He was establishing a higher reality with His Words. And then He walked in and called her up.
That’s the model. You look at the dead thing — the dead marriage, the dead finances, the dead body — and you don’t agree with the death. You agree with the God who gives life to the dead. You speak what He says about it.
“By His stripes I was healed.” Not will be. Was. Past tense — purchased and done. You speak it out loud. You let your own ears hear it. Because faith comes by hearing, and one of the fastest ways to build faith is to hear yourself declare the Word of God over your own situation.
You don’t have to understand it — you just have to cooperate with it.
I don’t understand how my car starts when I push a button. I don’t understand the engineering. But I still drive it. I still push the button.
You might not understand how God calls those things which do not exist as though they did. You might not fully grasp why speaking the Word matters, or why Abraham had to introduce himself as the father of many nations before he had nations. You don’t have to understand it. You have to do it.
This is God’s way of doing things. His ways are higher than your ways. And when you humble yourself and cooperate with His system — when you open your mouth and start speaking what He says about you instead of what the circumstance says — that Word goes to work. It has the power within it to create what you’re asking for. He watches over it to perform it.
So open your mouth. Speak the Word. And watch God be true.
Fight To Win. Start today.
