Redeemed – Why Sickness Was Always the Curse, Never the Blessing

I'm excited to keep going in this series, because today I want to show you something that settles, once and for all, whether sickness was ever meant to be a blessing.

Sickness Was Never the Blessing – It Was Always the Curse

“Also every sickness and every plague, which is not written in this Book of the Law, will the Lord bring upon you until you are destroyed.”

Deuteronomy 28:61 (NKJV)

Notice what category sickness and disease fall under here — not blessing, curse. Even conditions never specifically named in Scripture are covered by that same category. If sickness is under the curse, it was never meant to be a gift, a teaching tool, or a hidden blessing in disguise.

Man never needed to experience bad in order to appreciate good — that idea is a lie dressed up as depth. The only reason sickness entered the picture at all was sin entering the world through Adam's choice in the garden.

Christ Redeemed You from the Curse – Say It by Name

“Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, ‘Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree’).”

Galatians 3:13 (NKJV)

Put these two truths together: every sickness and disease falls under the curse of the law, and Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law. That means Christ has redeemed you from every sickness and disease by name — not in a vague, general sense, but specifically.

That's the reason I'll take a particular diagnosis and walk it through out loud: every sickness is under the curse; this condition is a sickness; therefore Christ redeemed me from this condition. I am redeemed.

Say it as many times as it takes to get it settled on the inside of you — you're not earning anything by saying it, you're declaring what's already true.

Your Life Doesn't Have to Hang in Doubt

“Your life shall hang in doubt before you; you shall fear day and night, and have no assurance of life.”

Deuteronomy 28:66 (NKJV)

That description — life hanging in doubt, no assurance, constant fear — is listed among the curses, not among the blessings. People often treat that kind of uncertainty about tomorrow as simply realistic. But if it's under the curse, and Christ redeemed us from the curse, then uncertainty about your own life isn't something you're required to carry either.

You can say instead: my life does not hang in doubt before me. I have assurance of life, because Christ has redeemed me from the curse of the law. That's not arrogance — it's simply taking God at His word about what already belongs to you.
