Of What Are You Afraid?
Of what are you afraid? What in your life causes you to fear and lose your peace? Is it other people, finances, loved ones, a doctor’s report, or just some situation that seems hopeless at this time? Did you know you are called to live a fear-free life? You are called to live and not be afraid of anything or anyone at anytime. You are called to live in peace, not fearing what today or tomorrow might bring.
Isaiah 41:10-13 tells us:
“Fear not [there is nothing to fear], for I am with you, do not look around you in terror and be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen and harden you to difficulties, yes, I will help you, yes, I will hold you up and retain you with My [victorious] right hand of rightness and justice.”
Beginning with the first two words, God issues a command: “Fear not!” He doesn’t say ‘try not to fear’. He doesn’t tell us ‘if you can, don’t fear’.
He doesn’t even say not to fear just the small stuff. No, He says, “Fear not!” In fact, in one form or another, we are admonished in the Bible not to fear over 200 times.
I have come to find that fear is an expectation of the failure of a promise of God. In other words, fear is the expectation of a promise of God to fail. You could also say that fear is faith in something, or someone’s, ability to harm you.
You see, in order for something to harm you, a promise of God would have to fail. If you believe something can harm you while operating according to the Word, then you are expecting God’s Word to fail. So when God tells us not to fear, He is saying that we have no reason to dread. He won’t fail us. We are to expect Him to deliver us from all harm.
To fear is to doubt God’s love for you, and His willingness to perform His Word on your behalf. God’s Word won’t fail when it is put into action. You have no reason to fear. And whether you realize it or not, there is a Word from God in the Bible that promises your deliverance from anything that would seek to harm you and bring defeat into your life. All you need to do is get into the book and find out what’s promised to you and start living in it!
