Stop Blaming God — Your Ground Determines Your Harvest
I'm excited to keep going in this series, How to Change Your Life Forever — because if something hasn't been working for you, I believe today is going to hand you a real answer, not just more information.
We're still in Mark chapter 4, in the parable Jesus called foundational to understanding everything else He teaches. If you missed the last post, catch up when you can — but let's keep moving, because there's more in here for you.
Who's actually responsible for your harvest?
The parable is simple on the surface: a sower sows seed, and it lands on four different kinds of ground — the wayside, stony ground, thorny ground, and good ground. Only one produces a harvest.
God is not determining your harvest based on the seed. The ground is what determines the harvest — not the sower.
God sows the Word. But whether that Word produces thirtyfold, sixtyfold, or a hundredfold in your life comes down to your ground — your heart.
So please, don't blame God anymore for not having a harvest. Check whether you're actually sowing the Word. Check whether your ground is prepared and watered.
Why do we always blame the only perfect one in the room?
In any situation, there are up to four parties involved: God, you, the devil, and the people around you.
So why is it that when something goes wrong, the only perfect one in that equation gets blamed?
You don't always get it right. The devil is working to make sure you don't. The people around you are sowing doubt and unbelief into you, whether they mean to or not.
You should be hard ground toward doubt and unbelief — but fertile soil toward the Word of God.
He is not the problem. Quit acting like He is, and quit making excuses.
Have you actually sown the Word, or did you just eat somebody else's watermelon?
Do you know how many people demand a harvest from the Lord after sowing almost no seed? One sermon heard once, never watered, never fertilized — and then they want a hundred acres of harvest.
There's a difference between eating a watermelon you bought at the store and eating one you planted and cultivated yourself.
A lot of people never sow their own seed. They just grab somebody else's watermelon — my teaching, your pastor's teaching — and eat off that. Then the watermelon runs out, because they never planted their own.
This is what abiding in Jesus actually produces.
Look at what Jesus said in John 15.
“If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.”
John 15:7 (NKJV)
Do you know how many times I've had to look at myself and admit I wasn't actually abiding in Jesus? Not that I wasn't saved — that I wasn't in a living, ongoing relationship with Him.
If you don't abide in Jesus and His Words don't abide in you, you're not going to receive from Him on a regular, ongoing basis — not because He's withholding, but because you haven't built the confidence or the lifestyle that comes from abiding.
It's not God, darlin'. It's not God. It's something on the inside of you that needs this Word to anchor it.
So how do you actually sow the Word into yourself?
Watch or read the teaching all the way through. Then get your Bible out and read the whole chapter for yourself — not just the verse quoted. Get it in context. Make sure it lines up.
Sit with it. Write down what strikes you. If something doesn't make sense yet, don't throw it out — meditate on it until you can see it.
That's the standard God gave Joshua: meditate in His Word day and night, until you observe to do all that is written in it. Not just do it — until you can see it, to do it.
And if you're going to sow financially into a ministry, sow the Word along with your finances. Don't give on the basis of atmosphere and excitement in a room. Give on the basis of the Word — because the Word remains the same long after the excitement fades.
Make up your mind you're going to start sowing the Word today. Whatever hasn't worked for you yet doesn't have to stay that way — God is a God of miracles, and He is merciful. But the ground has to be prepared.
Fight To Win.
