Will You Let Jesus Plow Your Well-Worn Path?

Will You Let Jesus Plow Your Well-Worn Path?

I'm excited to keep going in this series, because today I want to talk about the very first ground Jesus mentions — the one that never lets anything grow at all.

The Word is the seed to your deliverance. If you don't plant it and water it, don't expect a harvest. A lot of people want to skip that part and get rich quick in the Kingdom of God.

This is the ground that never lets anything grow

“And it happened, as He sowed, that some seed fell by the wayside; and the birds of the air came and devoured it.”

Mark 4:4 (NKJV)

Back when this parable was told, farmers walked the same path around their fields every single day for generations. Over time, that path became packed down so hard that even rain couldn't soak into it. Seed just sat on top until the birds came and took it.

That's the wayside — ground that's been walked on so many times it's stopped being able to receive anything new.

Are you willing to let your well-worn path get plowed?

Will you allow Jesus and His Word to affect your well-worn paths? Or will you say, "I've always done it this way, that's just my personality," and refuse to let the Word penetrate?

I made up my mind as a kid which path my life was going to take. When I got sick and realized I would die without Him, I let God speak to me — but even then, I told Him plainly: I'll let You pay for my sins, but I'm not changing the direction of my life.

Even after I committed to ministry, I secretly thought I'd give it a little time before going back to what I actually wanted to do. That's how hard my path had become.

I was saved. I was going to Heaven. But a lot of things weren't working for me, because I wouldn't let the Word penetrate my thinking.

Notice — the seed was sown equally to everyone

Every one of the four grounds in this parable received the same seed. God wasn't withholding from any of them. Each ground got the same opportunity.

You can offer equal opportunity — that's exactly what the sower did. But you cannot guarantee equal outcome, because outcome depends on what the ground allows the seed to do.

If you're broke right now, you can blame your upbringing, your education, whatever you want to blame. But hand a broke man a million dollars, and if he doesn't change how he thinks, that money finds its way back to wherever it came from. Life is about the seeds you sow.

Your deliverance is as close as the seed you're willing to sow — no matter your background, your age, or how many wrong turns you've already made.

Opposition is not proof the seed won't work — it's proof that it will

Satan doesn't want you to accept this Word, because the Word is a threat to him. Ask yourself why. If it didn't work, why would he be afraid of it?

That's often why things seem to fall apart the moment you decide to serve God. It's not a sign you misheard Him — it's a sign the enemy knows exactly what's coming if you follow through.

Take opposition as an indicator, not a stop sign. This must be worth fighting you over, or he wouldn't be fighting so hard.

This works in every area of your life, not just your finances

The ground that produces the fullest harvest is the ground that allows itself to be cultivated the most. That process can be messy. The ground has to be willing to change.

Want to get in shape? Start sowing workout seed — even one push-up is a start. Want more peace in your home? Quit sowing strife, and start sowing peace instead. That doesn't make you a doormat — it makes you a sower.

Don't stay on the wayside. Let this Word be plowed into the well-worn places in your life, and let it produce something new.

Fight To Win.
