Your Words Are Writing Your Destiny — Whether You Know It or Not

I’m excited about what I’m putting in your hands today. We’re wrapping up two weeks of teaching on the tongue — and I saved the best for last.

You’ve heard how your tongue is a bridle. You’ve heard how it’s a rudder. But today I want to show you something that will lock all of it together. I want to show you a man who changed the entire destiny of his children with nothing but words.

No money changed hands. Not a single piece of cattle moved. Just words.

Your tongue doesn’t just steer you — it steers the people around you.

Before we get to the story, go with me to Proverbs 18:21.

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.

— Proverbs 18:21 (NKJV)

Notice it doesn’t say death and life are in the power of your tongue only. If you stay neutral and let people speak curses over you, don’t be surprised when those curses show up. But here’s the flip side — your words can speak life into the people around you. Into your children. Into the people in your church. Into the strangers in Walmart. Death and life. You choose.

The Holy Spirit is hovering — but He’s waiting for words.

Go back to Genesis 1. In the beginning, the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the deep. The literal power of God was right there. And nothing happened.

Nothing changed until God spoke.

Let that sink in. The Spirit of God was present and active — and still nothing moved until words were released.

Now I want to ask you something. Is it possible that the same Holy Spirit Jesus sent after His resurrection — the Spirit that lives in you, through you, for you — is hovering right over your situation right now? And nothing is happening because you are not speaking?

What if you opened your mouth and declared what God has already said? “By His stripes I was healed. I have the mind of Christ. I am blessed going in and blessed going out.” Could it be that the power was always there — and it was just waiting on your tongue?

Faith is voice-activated — and that’s not an isolated doctrine.

Jesus said it plainly in Mark 11:23:

For assuredly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.

— Mark 11:23 (NKJV)

Notice the word. Whoever. Not just the disciples. Not just the apostles. Whoever. Are you a whoever? Then this is for you.

The woman with the issue of blood kept saying to herself, “If I may touch the hem of His garment, I shall be made whole.” The centurion told Jesus, “Speak a word — just speak it — and my servant will be healed.” This isn’t a fringe doctrine. This is woven through the entire Bible. Words activate faith, and faith activates the power of God.

Two brothers weren’t fighting over cattle — they were fighting over words.

Here’s where it all comes together. Isaac is old and nearly blind. It’s time to pass the blessing to his firstborn son Esau. But Jacob — with his mother Rebekah’s help — dresses himself in goat's skin and tricks his father into blessing him instead.

And here’s what gets me. These two boys weren’t fighting over gold. They weren’t fighting over land. They were fighting over the words that would be spoken over them. Because they understood that whoever received those words would be ruddered toward that destiny. That death and life are in the power of the tongue. That these words, once spoken, would come to pass.

Jacob walks out. Esau walks in. Isaac trembles. And then he says the most stunning thing: “I have blessed him — and indeed he shall be blessed.”

Not a single good had changed hands yet. The flocks were still in the field. The silver hadn’t moved. But Isaac, who did not doubt in his heart, knew beyond any shadow of a doubt — what he had spoken would happen. That’s faith in God. That’s the God kind of faith. And that is what your tongue is capable of.

Stop waiting. Start speaking.

You have a rudder. You have been given words with the power of death and life in them. The Spirit of God is present over your life right now. The only question is whether you will open your mouth.

Start speaking what God says about you. Speak life over your children. Speak life over your body. Speak to that mountain of debt, that mountain of sickness, that mountain of fear. Don’t just think it. Say it out loud. Because faith is voice-activated, and it’s time to pull the trigger.

Fight To Win. Start today.
